the final frontier

August 9, 2024

With the role of artificial intelligence in society increasing at hyperspeed, I thought it would be good to write down some of my thoughts.

disruption

At this point, everyone knows that AI is going to change the world whether we like it or not. Quite a few people seem to be worried about this. Will AI remove some jobs? Will robots take over the world?

These are definitely relevant questions, but I don't think they're the right questions we should be asking. I view this time as a new industrial revolution. Ask yourself, how can I use the power that I now have at my fingertips? How can I use it for good?

for good

If you're a fan of Marvel, you know that with great power comes great responsibility. But what does "using AI for good" even mean? I believe that there are two aspects to this.

  1. Build products to solve problems. If you see a need in the market, go build a solution. Who knows, maybe you'll even earn some money along the way.

  2. Be personal. Is this a problem that you care about? Do you think you're helping people by spending your time on this? These are the questions you should be asking instead of wondering whether or not ChatGPT will take over the world!

just build

At the end of the day, nobody can really predict the future. Whether or not you're 100% sure that what you're building will earn you a trillion dollars, the worst thing you can do is give up on it. I know that AI has a lot of potential--even in fields we haven't thought about yet.

I guess the whole point of me writing this is to say that we should take the leap of faith. Educate ourselves on technology and the world. Let's build the future, one prompt at a time.
